Greater Somerset County YMCA Collects Nearly 200 Coats During Coat Drive
Basking Ridge, New Jersey, December 4, 2023 – As the crisp winds of winter draw near, to spread warmth and comfort, Bridgewater YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA, and Somerville YMCA, branches of Greater Somerset County YMCA collected nearly 200 coats during November’s Winter Coat Drive.
“We extend our deepest gratitude for the incredible donation of coats that has made a significant impact during these cold days, says Leonardo Gonzalez, Senior Program Director, Plainfield YMCA, “The thoughtful contributions from Bridgewater, Somerset Hills, and Somerville YMCAs have been a lifeline for many residents in need in Plainfield.”
The coats were distributed during Plainfield YMCA’s pre-Thanksgiving food distribution and to the Y’s food security partner, My Neighbor’s Pantry, an outreach of Zarephath Christian Church. “We’d like to thank the YMCA… the coats are a huge answer to our prayers,” says Mark J. Avery, “Coats are going out as fast as they come in.”
