NOT JUST CHILD’S PLAY

Where education meets fun.

Children may grow up too fast, but our Early Education Centers are committed to keeping up, because we understand that during these early years, home and school are a child’s two most important worlds. At the Y, we provide a safe and structured hands-on learning experience—your children can discover their full learning potential in a home away from home.

Not only are these years the most precious, they are the most formative when it comes to cognitive, physical, linguistic and social development. We strive to bring out the best in each and every child that comes through our daycare doors.

Our program curriculum is designed to consider the general patterns of growth and to recognize and accept individual differences among children. Our nurturing and well qualified staff focuses on six content areas within The Creative Curriculum®: literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, arts & technology, all while making sure your children have fun and express their individuality while learning.

"I have used other childcare programs, and the difference here is that this is more than a job to the employees of the YMCA. They are here to model and teach children very special values. It is an environment where people care about more than just the dollar!” – Jennifer, YMCA Mom

WHY THE Y

Serious Learning. Serious Fun.

The Creative Curriculum® organizes the learning environment into a variety of interest areas including blocks, dramatic play, toys & games, art, discovery and more! This comprehensive, research-based, research-proven, whole-child approach to education gives children opportunities to explore, discover and learn in a hands-on and social setting. Sanford Harmony™ social-emotional learning activities in the form of stories, games, songs, and a variety of age-appropriate lessons help children develop self-confidence, control, and respect for the feelings and rights of others. In addition, the Y’s core values of caring, respect, honest, and responsibility are integrated in our early education and child care programs to create a warm and welcoming environment for all children.

Flexible Schedules that Work for You

We understand parents are busy, and budgets vary from family to family. That’s why we accommodate our families with both full-time and part-time schedules in our fully-licensed child care and preschool facilities, and enrollment takes place on an ongoing basis. Financial assistance is also available.

Our Dedicated Teachers

Our full- and part-time staff members are not only positive role models for the children we care for, but most are certified teachers and nurturing assistants – all required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of on-going training on an annual basis, including certifications in First Aid and CPR.

Enrichment Options

At Greater Somerset County YMCA, we encourage self-discovery and exploration, and we know part of that comes with trying new things. To learn more, please contact your branch child care director.

Y For All

We believe that everyone—no matter who they are or where they’re from—deserves the opportunity and the resources necessary to reach their full potential. In addition to any community subsidies families may qualify for, the Y also provides direct financial assistance to qualifying families enrolled in our child care programs—made possible through the generosity of our Y’s Annual Campaign donors and proceeds from special fundraising events.
