Aquatics Classes for Everyone at Somerville YMCA

Swim Lessons

At Somerville YMCA, we believe that every single person should learn how to swim so they can stay safe and have fun in the water. We offer several swim lesson programs, including: Swim Starters to introduce toddlers to the water; Swim Basics to teach elementary swimming habits and strokes to kids; and Swim Strokes, where both kids and adults can develop their swim techniques.

Swim Teams

If you want to improve your aquatic endurance and master your swim strokes, consider competitive swimming. Join the Greater Somerset County YMCA STORM Swim Team if you want to increase your aquatic fitness and skills in a safe but challenging environment.

Masters Swimming

Adult members who want to keep active and continue developing their swimming abilities should check out our Gold Club-level U.S. Masters Swimming program. This program is open to everyone, from casual swimmers seeking a healthier lifestyle to competitive open water swimmers aiming to master every stroke.

Family & Open Swim

We have daily open swim time at our indoor pools so that our members of all ages can take a dip and cool off.

Safety Around Water

This youth aquatics program is designed to teach kids ages 4-12 how to be confident and stay safe when they’re in or near water.

Water Exercise

The benefit of working out in the water is that you can stay refreshed as you get your heart pumping and your muscles working. Try out our low-impact water exercise programs such as Water Tabata and Aqua Zumba®.

Lifeguard & CPR Training Courses

Skills such as lifeguarding and first aid can save lives – in and out of the water. Somerville YMCA offers training courses to help our 15+ members earn certifications in CPR/AED, first aid, and lifeguarding.
