WELCOME BACK TO THE Y! 

We’re excited to announce that Greater Somerset County YMCA has begun to reopen our facilities and reactivate key programs including pools for lap swimming, indoor fitness in our Wellness Centers, personal training, outdoor fitness, early education, school age child care, dance, gymnastics, and more! We’re thrilled these key program areas are resuming as COVID-19 restrictions ease and New Jersey progresses along its Restart and Recovery Plan.

CHILD CARE: EARLY EDUCATION

Our Early Education Centers at Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA, and Somerville YMCA provide quality care for infants through Pre-K. At the Y, we offer a warm, nurturing environment where children feel secure and confident to discover their potential, providing a wide variety of age-appropriate experiences that foster the development of the whole child. Our School Age Child Care programs at Franklin Twp YMCA, Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA, and Somerville YMCA are here to support working families with care options that align with local districts’ 2020-2021 schedules. Greater Somerset County YMCA is excited to offer individualized Personal Training sessions for members ages at Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA, and Somerville YMCA. Our nationally certified personal trainers are ready to create an individualized program that will meet your specific needs and goals. By appointment only. POOLS: AQUA EX, YOUTH LAP SWIM, SWIM LESSONS

Aqua exercise classes, youth lap swim, and swim lessons have yet to resume at all branches pending approval from state and local officials and/or easing of existing guidelines in place. We will keep members informed as new information is received and additional branches and aquatics program areas are permitted to resume.

GYMNASIUM/OPEN GYM

Governor Murphy's Executive Order No. 104 remains in effect. Capacity and distancing requirements prevent Open Gym and typical high-contact activities in our Gymnasium from resuming at this time.

Q: My membership is currently on hold. How can I reactivate my YMCA membership?

A: Simply fill out our quick online form to reactivate your on-hold YMCA membership.

Q: What virtual programs and services can Y members participate in at this time?

A: We invite you to join us in whatever manner you are most comfortable. If that’s virtually, we have the following live and on-demand options for members to stay healthy and connected even while staying safe:

  • YMCA LIVE - Enjoy some of your favorite group exercise classes from our Y’s own instructors LIVE from the comfort of your home or anywhere
  • Healthy at Home - Our on-demand fitness options for all ages and abilities
  • Virtual Personal Training - Our expert personal trainers help you achieve your personal wellness goals through real-time feedback on form and progress

Q: When is the Y open for members?

A: Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA and Somerville YMCA are open daily for members! Below are our new modified hours of operation:

  • Monday to Friday 5:00am - 8:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 7:00am - 1:00pm

Bridgewater YMCA is open for members Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 5:00am - 6:00am and Tuesday, Thursday from 5:00am - 9:00am

Q: Is there a limit to how many people may be in the Y building?

A: Yes, each part of our YMCA facilities are operating under a temporary revised maximum occupancy as mandated by state and local officials.

Q: Why do I have to make an appointment before visiting the Y?

A: In order to accommodate as many members as possible within mandated maximum capacities, the Y has implemented an easy-to-use appointment system on our website. Members simply make their Wellness or Aquatics appointment by visiting: https://gscymca.org/appointments

Q: What has the Y done to prepare to reopen?

A: We’re following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and we have modified our policies and programs to facilitate safe physical/social distancing practices. Signage and markers are in place throughout our facilities to help support appropriate social distancing measures. You can be assured that your safety - and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers - is our number one priority. When you come back to the Y, this is what you can expect: 

  • All members and staff will be screened before being allowed to enter the facilities.
  • All staff will wear PPE and members are required to wear face masks/coverings as well.
  • Hand sanitization stations are located throughout the building.
  • Equipment is limited and signage is on the equipment and floors to distinguish 6 foot social distancing.
  • Enhanced cleaning of equipment and spaces with higher frequency, please be patient if your workout has a short delay for cleaning.

Q: What happens if someone in the facility/program tests positive for COVID-19?

A: Please be assured that your safety – and the safety of all our members, program participants, staff and volunteers – is our number one priority. We’re following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and we have modified our policies and programs to facilitate safe physical/social distancing practices. In the event the Y is notified of a test-confirmed positive case of COVID-19, we immediately contact our local Department of Health and follow their guidance with respect to ongoing facility/program operations and all necessary communications/disclosures.

A: We will continue to keep our members updated regarding the status of our facilities and programming via our website, email, and My Y Alerts text messaging.

A: Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, we’ve continued to serve the most critical needs in our community, including providing essential employees with emergency child care, fighting food insecurity by collecting and distributing food to our neighbors in need, hosting lifesaving blood drives across our branches, encouraging physical activity for all ages and abilities through live and on-demand virtual fitness programming, and helping seniors, school age children, cancer survivors, those living with chronic disease, job seekers and more feel connected while apart through specialized daily and weekly virtual events.

Collection bins are located at Hillsborough, Somerset Hills and Somerville YMCAs. Additionally, you can help stock the Little Food Pantries located at Hillsborough and Somerville YMCAs.
