  • Campers engage with our camp STEAM specialists and our sports specialists through participation in small group-based activities as well as traditional and non-traditional sports like capture the flag, tag and more!
  • Camp STAR’s intentional approach to team building helps campers develop the social skills that build long lasting friendships as they learn to work together through daily activities and engage collaboratively with different perspectives.
  • Theme days are wildly popular at Camp STAR. Campers and counselors alike get in on the action and dress the part!
TEEN CAMP

ALL CAMPS
  • No field trips this year and no swimming for all campers to adhere to current social distancing guidelines
  • New drop-off and pick-up procedures as mandated by state and local officials

The way we’ll interact with campers and each other will be different, but at the Y, parents can rest assured that the nation’s largest nonprofit child care provider is here to support your family, nurture your camper’s potential, and help strengthen our community.

UPDATED CAMP SAFETY GUIDELINES

Safety first at the Y—always.

As we prepare to reopen, please be assured that your safety – and the safety of all our campers and camp staff – is our number one priority. We’re following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our summer camp programs meet the highest standards for health and safety, and we have modified our camp policies and procedures to facilitate all recommended safe physical/social distancing practices. Some modifications parents can expect include but are not limited to:

  • Campers and staff are encouraged to stay home if not feeling well.
  • Camper drop-off and pick-up will take place in car lines only. Parents/guardians will NOT be permitted in the outdoor or indoor camp spaces.
  • Daily screenings required for every camper and all staff each morning of camp. Screening will include a temperature check and brief questionnaire about symptoms the person is experiencing and potential exposure to someone who has tested positive of COVID-19. Screening questions include:
    • Have you administered medications to lower the child’s temperature.
    • Is the child experiencing fever, cough, or shortness of breath, and/or symptoms of a cold or flu?
    • Ask if anyone has been complaining of sore throat or body rash?
    • Has the child been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days; or has anyone in the household had symptoms of respiratory illness (e.g. fever, cough, shortness of breath).
    • Are you, parent or guardian, essential personnel?
    • Is there any reason these symptoms exist for you? (regarding issues with seasonal allergies)
  • Campers will stay together in “groups.” Groups will consist of no more than 10 campers and 2 counselors.
    • Groups will remain isolated from other groups for the majority of the day, with social distancing measures in place.
    • Campers that register for multiple weeks will be assigned to the same group for the entirety of their camp registration.
  • All campers and staff are required to wear face masks/coverings whenever utilizing indoor spaces or in outdoor spaces when distancing is not possible. Face masks/coverings are not required in outdoor spaces when distancing is practiced. Campers must bring their own face masks/coverings each day. The Y will have extra face masks on hand in the event a replacement is necessary.
  • Activities that promote distancing will be emphasized throughout the camp day as much as possible.
  • Camp equipment will be designated per group as much as possible to limit sharing of items. Equipment that is shared will be sanitized thoroughly between each use.
  • All campers and staff will wash/sanitize hands between every activity block throughout the camp day, approximately every 40 minutes.
  • All camp spaces will be thoroughly sanitized at the end of each camp day.

Giving campers a S.P.A.C.E. to spread their wings and soar

Camp STAR’s very own S.P.A.C.E. philosophy is holistically integrated throughout every traditional and specialty camp all summer long.

What is S.P.A.C.E.? It stands for swimming, play, art, community and enrichment. We embed these signature elements across our entire camp program to create a truly well-rounded day camp experience for each child. It’s just one of the many ways the Y comprehensively supports the development of the whole child while they are here with us at Camp STAR.
