Somerset Hills YMCA Hosts Children’s Book Drive in Partnership with Rotary Club of the Somerset Hills, Collecting over 1,000 Books
Basking Ridge, New Jersey – May 1, 2026 – Somerset Hills YMCA, a branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA, partnered with the Rotary Club of the Somerset Hills in April to host a community-wide children’s book drive.
Community members were encouraged to donate new or gently used books for children ranging from infancy through 5th grade. In total, more than 1,000 books were collected, reflecting the generosity and strong community spirit.
The donated books will be distributed to children and families during Charter Day on May 16, from 12:00PM to 6:00PM in downtown Basking Ridge.
Jan Swider, Public Image Chair for the Rotary Club of the Somerset Hills, expressed gratitude and thanked the Y for its continued support. “The Rotary Club of Somerset Hills supports the Rotary International mission to strengthen communities through education and literacy. These generous book donations will enable us to give back to the community in a very meaningful way and place the magic of reading into the hands of children across our community.”
At Greater Somerset County YMCA, we know we’re stronger together and we are eager to partner with businesses, organizations and community members who can help us achieve a shared vision for stronger communities.
