Greater Somerset County YMCA Honors Volunteers at Annual Celebration Event

Basking Ridge, NJ – April 13, 2026 – Greater Somerset County YMCA recognized outstanding volunteers, shared last year’s impact on community, and celebrated the success of this year’s annual campaign at its Annual Celebration Event on April 8th at Raritan Valley Country Club.

Held during National Volunteer Month, the event honored individuals and groups whose generosity and dedication have made a lasting impact on the community through their involvement with the Y.

David M. Carcieri, President and CEO of Greater Somerset County YMCA, expressed gratitude to donors, volunteers, partners, government officials, and staff, emphasizing their essential role in the Y’s mission. “The success of our Y is made possible through the dedication of our donors, volunteers, and partners,” said Carcieri. “It is their unwavering belief in the Y’s mission and their ongoing support that uplift our communities by improving the quality of life for all.”

This year, Greater Somerset County YMCA’s Spirit Award recipients are:

  • Youth: Caitlyn Ferraioli, Basking Ridge, NJ
    • Jayvaughn Gray, Princeton, NJ
    • Cody Diamond, Branchburg NJ
  • Adult: Brianna De la Cruz, MS RDN, Hillsborough, NJ
  • Active Older Adult: Joanne Parker, Princeton, NJ
  • Leadership: Dan McCauley, Basking Ridge, NJ
  • Living Our Cause: Ram Anbarasan, Somerset, NJ
  • Ray of Light: Carmen Salavarrieta, Plainfield, NJ
    • Linda Plager, Warren, NJ
  • Group: Scarlet Knights for Life of Rutgers University, New Brunswick and Piscataway
  • Community Partner: Franklin Township Public Schools, Franklin Township, NJ
  • Board Leadership: Deborah Nungester, Basking Ridge, NJ
  • Philanthropy: John & Dorothy Cassimatis, Hillsborough, NJ
  • Lifetime Achievement: Michael Osterman, Pottersville, NJ

During a lively celebration, Lisa LaVecchia, Chair of Greater Somerset County YMCA’s Board of Directors and Annual Campaign Chair, announced fundraising progress toward the $1.4 million Annual Campaign goal.

One hundred percent of the funds raised in Greater Somerset County YMCA’s Annual Campaign support vital community services, including financial assistance for childcare and summer camp, rehabilitation programs for cancer patients, water safety initiatives, enrichment programs for individuals with special needs, and workforce development for the unemployed. In 2025, the value of these programs and services totaled nearly $2.8 million.

Greater Somerset County YMCA remains committed to ongoing fundraising efforts to meet the growing community need and ensure access to resources that promote a healthy, connected life for all.
