Praise Korean Church Invests in Future YMCA Planned in Franklin Township

Somerset, New Jersey, March 30, 2026 – Praise Korean Church, on Cedar Grove Lane in Somerset, presented a check to Greater Somerset County YMCA on March 26, 2026, toward their $50,000 investment in a new YMCA that Greater Somerset County YMCA plans to build in Franklin Township on Route 27.

Over the past six years, Greater Somerset County YMCA has launched and expanded programs in Franklin Township, including Before and After School Care at all seven elementary schools, Summer Camp for children in kindergarten through 8th grade, Safety Around Water and Swim Lessons, Adult Wellness Classes, Workforce Development opportunities, and a Youth & Government program, among others.

To bring even more programs and services that improve the quality of life for all ages, Greater Somerset County YMCA plans to build a full-service facility on Route 27 to benefit residents of Franklin Township and the surrounding communities.

As a nonprofit organization, Greater Somerset County YMCA is raising critical funds through a capital campaign to build the new YMCA.

“We are deeply grateful to Praise Korean Church for its generous support of our capital campaign,” commented David M. Carcieri, President and CEO of Greater Somerset County YMCA. “This investment demonstrates the church’s commitment to strengthening the community and uplifting individuals and families. It will have a lasting impact for generations to come.”

Praise Korean Church, a cornerstone of the community, has committed its support of the planned YMCA as a meaningful way to serve neighbors and strengthen Franklin Township. Additionally, the church and the Y are exploring collaborations to expand Y’s impact through new program offerings.

“We are honored to support the Y’s mission and the vital work the Y does for our community,” said Pastor Sung No of Praise Korean Church. “We count it a privilege to participate in this way. Our church believes deeply in the YMCA’s mission and the shared cause of strengthening individuals and families, cultivating holistic well-being, and serving our neighbors. We are grateful for the opportunity to link arms with the Y for the flourishing of our wider community.”
