PLAINFIELD, NJ — MAY 1, 2025 — Plainfield YMCA, a branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA, hosted a special prom donation giveaway at the duCret School of Art on April 25 and 26, creating unforgettable memories for local high school students and their families.
The event featured nearly 300 new and gently worn items—including dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry, ties, and accessories—available in a wide range of sizes and styles to ensure students had everything they needed to celebrate their special night with confidence and joy.
Families came together to share smiles and support, as students selected the perfect outfits and added personal touches with makeup, handbags, and more. Volunteers were on hand to teach young men how to tie ties and choose accessories that complemented their suits, making the experience both educational and meaningful.
This year’s giveaway was made possible thanks to the generous support of Somerset Hills YMCA, a branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA, which coordinated and housed all donations.
“At the Y, moments like these highlight the power of community,” said Leonardo Gonzalez, Associate Branch Executive Director of Plainfield YMCA. “We’re proud to help create lasting memories and ensure every student feels seen and celebrated.”
