Princeton YMCA’S ACE Program

ACCEPT COMPETE EXCEL

PRINCETON YMCA’S ACE PROGRAM

ACE (Accept Compete Excel) is the Princeton YMCA’s initiative under the YMCA’s national Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMOC) strategy, now allied with the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper program. In collaboration with Princeton Public Schools, ACE is open to students in grades 6 to 11, regardless of gender. On Monday to Thursday from 5-6 pm, the program focuses on academic, social, and professional development through after-school sessions. Each session enhances the student’s study skills, time management, social responsibility, and workforce readiness. ACE also provides lunchtime programming atschools and on-site sessions at the Princeton Y four days a week. Monthly family gatherings foster community and celebration. The program aims to build a sustainable support network for current, past, and future participants.

THE BOYS AND YOUNG MEN OF COLOR INITIATIVE

The YMCA Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMOC) initiative strategy is based on research findings from a study on race and economic opportunity, which showed that neighborhoods where young men of color do well with shared commonalities: less discrimination, less racial bias, and lower poverty rates. The BYMOC initiative seeks to recreate these equitable communities and the characteristics and conditions present in them.

MY BROTHER AND SISTER’S KEEPER (MBSK)

MSK and MBK Alliance are both dedicated to supporting under-served communities through specific, targeted approaches. These approaches include partnerships and programming that provide professional development and educational opportunities. Both organizations demonstrate a commitment to leveraging community resources and partnerships to address systemic challenges and create positive impacts for their target populations. They highlight the importance of tailored strategies and collaborative efforts in achieving meaningful social change.
