Princeton YMCA Hosts Final ACE Dinner to Celebrate Successful School Year

Princeton, NJ – Princeton YMCA, a branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA, recently held its final monthly ACE dinner, celebrating a successful school year for students. ACE (Accept Compete Excel) is Princeton YMCA’s program for cohort 2 of the YMCA’s national Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMOC) strategy, including students in grades 6-11 in collaboration with the Princeton Public Schools. ACE focuses on aiding students academically, socially, and professionally.

The event was a joyous occasion, bringing together Princeton Young Achievers students, their families, and many community partners to commemorate the achievements and hard work of the students. Princeton Young Achievers (PYA) is a unique after-school program that helps children from low-to-moderate income neighborhoods by providing homework help and academic enrichment.

The celebration saw participation and contributions from esteemed organizations, including The Arts Council of Princeton, HomeFront, Howard’s Healthy Choices, and The Princeton Public Library. These organizations played a vital role in making the event memorable by donating and participating in various activities.

The evening was filled with fun and engaging activities for all attendees. Dinner featured a classic barbecue selection with burgers, hot dogs, and hot wings, ensuring there was something delicious for everyone to enjoy. A lively 3-on-3 basketball game took place, engaging older students in friendly competition, while younger students enjoyed the playground.

“We believe that community is not just about the physical places where we live, but about the connections we build, the support we offer one another, the shared commitment to making our neighborhoods healthier, and more inclusive to everyone,” shared Chelse Hall, ACE Coach.

A highlight of the night was the grand beach item giveaway, which brought excitement and smiles to the faces of our students and their families. This generous gesture added a special touch to the evening, marking the end of the school year with a celebratory note.

The Y extends a heartfelt thank you to Turner Construction, whose sponsorship and support made this event possible. Their presence and assistance helped create a memorable and meaningful goodbye to the school year for our students.
