Hispanic Heritage Month Events:
Kick-Off Celebration
Join us for an exciting kick-off celebration event at the Somerville YMCA, filled with an array of delights including delectable food, captivating music, lively dance performances, and much more. Don’t miss the enchanting performance by the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
When: September 15th from 5 – 7 pm.

Salsa Lessons
In a wonderful collaboration between the Plainfield YMCA and the Plainfield Board of Education, we are thrilled to present an opportunity for Salsa enthusiasts and newcomers. Join us at Plainfield High School for engaging Salsa lessons. It’s an exciting chance to learn and groove – we can’t wait to see you there!
When: September 21st & 28th, October 5th & 12th from 6-8 pm.

Children’s Artwork Exhibit
Embarking on a creative journey with local schools, we are proud to curate a captivating exhibit showcasing the artistic talents of children. Join us at the Greater Somerset County YMCA facilities for an enchanting display of children’s artwork, a testament to their imagination and creativity.
When: September 30th from 10 am – 12 pm.

Immerse yourself in a rich virtual experience by joining the YMCA of the USA’s Hispanic Latino Leadership Network for an enlightening conference. Delve into insightful discussions with a distinguished panel, while also indulging in the melodic rhythms of cultural music and much more. This event promises to be a source of knowledge, connection, and cultural celebration that you won’t want to miss.
When: October 5th from 1 – 3 pm
Cultural Latino Festival
Embark on a vibrant cultural journey at the Princeton YMCA as we proudly collaborate with the McCarter Theater, Arts Council, and Princeton University to present the Cultural Latino Festival. This event promises an enriching celebration of Latino heritage, featuring captivating performances, artistic expressions, and a dynamic fusion of cultures.
When: October 8th from 1 – 5 pm.
Somerset County Diversity Festival
Somerville YMCA to host a table and a Courageous Conversation, “Building Inclusive Spaces: Strategies for Fostering Belonging and Empowerment” at Somerset County Diversity Festival in downtown Somerville.
When: October 15th from 12 – 4 pm
Also happening
We will highlight Spanish author stories for our Childcare and Aftercare participants. Hillsborough YMCA and San Juan, Puerto Rico YMCA Pre-K childcare classes will connect virtually and exchange morning circle greetings and more!
